ROOFTOP BAR_WAGTAIL_
LONDON

This bar was on the 10th floor roof in a prominent location in London. The bar not only had a 360 degree view over London, but could also be seen from surrounding buildings and London Bridge. The design of the joinery therefore needed to be open to the view, whilst also creating an atmospheric functional piece, able to survive all seasons.

Lighting was the biggest challenge as the pergola the bar sat beneath could not be fixed into. We needed there to be enough light that the bar could be used at night, whilst also ensuring there wasn't lots of intense direct light. For the front bar, I therefore designed it to have an elegant antique brass frame with fixed pendants lights. Whilst for the back bar, a window like light box was created with textured acrylics and internally lit with LED sheets. I worked closely with a lighting designer to ensure we created a suitable lighting effect.

Below are some images of the final bar  in place, up close details and my construction drawings.
